How we work

A working relationship, not a handover

Four commitments that shape how every RedTimesCoder project runs.

  • Scope before build

What the product must do is agreed in writing before code starts. That document is what the build is measured against, and what protects both sides when priorities move.

  • Direct communication

You talk to the people doing the work, not a relay. Questions get answered by someone who can act on the answer.

  • Built to be maintained

Code is structured and documented so it can be extended later, by us or by whoever maintains it after we step away. That is cheaper for everyone than rebuilding.

  • Your requirements lead

Technology choices follow the problem. Where a requirement is genuinely unworkable, we explain the trade-off rather than quietly substituting something else.

Services

Six service lines covering design, build, integration and launch.

Why RedTimesCoder

What you get from working with us

Practical reasons to choose us — none of them depend on a number we would have to prove.

  • Tailored solutions

Templates become a starting point at most. Structure, flow and features are decided against your requirements rather than a fixed package.

  • Responsive user experiences

Layouts are designed and checked from small phones through to large desktops, with touch targets, tap spacing and readable line lengths treated as part of the build.

  • Maintainable code

Readable structure, sensible naming and documented decisions, so the next change is straightforward and does not require reverse-engineering the last one.

  • Clear project communication

A written scope, scheduled reviews at each stage, and a written summary after every round of feedback. You always know what is happening and why.

  • Business-focused development

Decisions are judged by what they do for the product and the people using it, rather than by which approach is considered more impressive.

Development process

From idea to a product that runs

6 stages, each ending with something you can review before the next one begins.

  1. Discovery

We start with your business and the problem the product solves. Who uses it, what they need from it and what success looks like are written down before anything is designed.

  2. Planning

Scope is agreed: what will be built, what is deliberately out of scope, and the order of work. Timelines and cost follow from that scope rather than the other way round.

  3. UI/UX

Structure first, then interface. Wireframes establish the layout, and the visual design is produced as something you can review and comment on.

  4. Development

Implementation happens in stages you can see as they land, so feedback happens while changes are still cheap to make rather than after everything is finished.

  5. Testing

Functionality, responsive behaviour across screen sizes, and accessibility are checked before launch. Anything found here is fixed before the product goes live.

  6. Deployment and maintenance

The build is released and handed over with the documentation needed to run it. Ongoing changes and support are available as a separate conversation.

Technology expertise

Where the work gets done

The capability areas behind every service we offer.

  • Front-end interfaces

Semantic, accessible interfaces with responsive layouts and keyboard support, built from design through to production.

  • Back-end and APIs

Server-side logic, authentication, data modelling and API design — including third-party API integration.

  • Databases and data

Schema design, migrations and query work, so data is stored and retrieved in a way that holds up as usage grows.

  • Mobile applications

Native and cross-platform app development, including store submission and post-release updates.

  • Commerce platforms

Product catalogues, carts, checkout and payment provider integration for online stores.

  • Delivery and operations

Environments, deployment pipelines, monitoring and the handover documentation that keeps a product maintainable.

Questions

Frequently asked

If your question is not here, ask it directly — that is a normal way to start.

What do you need from me to get an estimate?

Enough to understand the problem: what the product needs to do, who will use it, and any systems it must connect to. Links to existing sites, competitor references or a document are all useful. If something is undecided, say so — working through it is part of the conversation rather than a blocker.

How do you work out pricing?

After scoping, you get a breakdown by component and phase, so you can see what each part costs and remove anything that is not needed. We do not publish fixed prices because two projects with the same label can be very different products. A written estimate follows the scope, not a price list.

How long will my project take?

The estimate you receive includes a timeline derived from that scope, with the assumptions stated alongside it. If scope changes, the timeline changes with it, and we tell you before work continues rather than after.

How many revisions are included?

Revisions happen throughout the project rather than being counted and capped, because feedback during the design stage costs far less than feedback after launch. Where a specific limit matters for how a project is contracted, it is stated in writing up front.

What happens after launch?

You receive documentation covering how the product is structured and how to make changes. Ongoing changes, updates and support are available as a separate engagement — we will explain what is included and what it costs before anything starts.

How will we communicate during the project?

Through the person you started with, directly. Expect a written scope up front, scheduled reviews at each stage, and a summary of what changed after every round of feedback. You are never asked to chase progress.
